ENVIRONMENTAL:

Biogas is composed of approximately 60% methane - a greenhouse gas that has twenty one times the global warming potential of carbon dioxide and is a major contributor to climate change (1). Unlike other greenhouse gasses, methane can be used to produce clean renewable energy that can offset traditional fuel sources. Biogas capturing systems, such as anaerobic digestion and landfill wells, can be used in conjunction with BTU's equipment to create marketable energy from a waste by-product that was previously vented to the atmosphere.

By capturing biogas released by livestock manure management programs, landfills, wastewater treatment facilities and coal mines we can begin to neutralize mankind's effect on the environment while promoting renewable energy technology. The US Environmental Protection Agency has developed a "greenhouse gas equivalency calculator" that translates reductions in carbon dioxide into common terms such as "gallons of gasoline saved" to help companies communicate their greenhouse gas reduction strategies. By entering values provided in our energy chart (renewable energy) into "Option 1" you can calculate the environmental benefits of BTU's technology.
